Church School Inspection

Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) – March 2015

We are delighted to be sharing the Report on our Church School Inspection via the link below.

All aspects reported on were again judged to be outstanding in every category:

  • The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is outstanding at meeting the needs of all learners
  • The impact of collective worship on the school community is outstanding
  • The effectiveness of the religious education is outstanding
  • The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school is outstanding

This is a fantastic achievement, and a huge tribute to all members of the school community who are committed to ensuring that Christian values are embedded in everything we do. A third outstanding report was only possible because the whole team works so hard at building and maintaining our Church School ethos and distinctiveness.

This Inspection result was particularly pleasing not only because the SIAMS framework has been changed and is now considerably more challenging than in the past, but also because we requested a ‘full’ SIAMS visit, to include an inspection of RE. This is normally only given to Voluntary Aided Schools (we are a Voluntary Controlled School). We are very confident that our teaching of Religious Education is just as outstanding as all other aspects of our Church School Distinctiveness, and so we asked for this to be inspected and reported on fully too. Special congratulations go to Mrs Millard who leads RE throughout the School.

Our previous Inspection, in February 2010, inspired the creation of our wonderful Spiritual Garden. This latest Inspection has asked us to develop further the children’s theological thinking, and also to “create a school motto and redesign the school badge so that together they truly reflect the distinctive Christian character of the school.” We will look forward to consulting all members of our school community as we address these development points.

We are really pleased that the Report recognises and celebrates what is at the heart of our school. We hope you will be as proud of it as we are.

“This is a school community steeped in Christian love which has a significant impact on all.”

Thank you to everyone for making our school such a wonderful place.
