Subject Intent:

To assert the importance of religious education for all pupils, with ongoing benefits for an open, articulate and understanding society:

for pupils to understand how world views influence people's lives including their own through the study of religious and non-religious worldviews, so that they better understand themselves and the world around them, and become better equipped to contribute to and flourish in society.

Building foundations for a love of life, a love of learning and a love of one another

The Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus for RE has a principle aim that incorporates a religion and world views (RW) approach.

It also has a threefold aim to elaborate this principle aim:

• Understand how religious and non-religious worldviews influence people's lives.
• Engage with religious and non-religious worldviews in thoughtful and scholarly ways.
• Understand themselves, and others, and their personal worldviews better.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from “RE lessons or any part of the RE Curriculum” p.14 Gloucestershire Agreed Syllabus. Parents are informed of this via our RE policy which is available on the website. They can withdraw their child by discussing their views with the Head Teacher and alternative provision will be provided.
