Mrs H Bird - Executive Deputy Headteacher- (SMT)
Our Pastoral Head of School strategically leads Inclusion and Well-Being across the Heartwood Federation. She is responsible for the management of all of the Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCo) across the federation and is also responsible for co-ordinating appropriate provision for those children falling into vulnerable groups such as; pupil premium indicated children, children in care, ethnic minority pupils, pupils with English as an additional language, those children with medical requirements, as well as promoting the emotional well-being of all. The Pastoral Head of School is also responsible for the strategic development of behaviour and attendance, as well as being a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).
Our Pastoral Head of School's primary aim is to support and promote an inclusive culture throughout the school, enabling all children to achieve their best, overcoming barriers to learning and participation.
Mrs J Knight- Assistant Headteacher and named SENCO
Our Assistant Headteacher will lead and drive the school’s approach to inclusion, ensuring high-quality provision and outcomes for all pupils. She has operational and strategic responsibility for pupils with: Special Educational Needs (SEN), Pupil Premium (PP), and Looked After Children, ensuring that barriers to learning are identified and addressed effectively, and that provision supports ambition and achievement for every learner. The role includes the line management of all 1:1 support staff, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development to maximise impact on pupil progress and well-being.
Mrs Knight will support the Head of School in developing and implementing whole-school behaviour systems and culture, promoting positive behaviour and inclusive practice across all key stages. As a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), she will contribute to safeguarding leadership and ensure robust safeguarding oversight.
Mrs S Milburn - Inclusion Admin Assistant
Mrs S Milburn is our Inclusion admin assistant . She supports Mrs Bird with the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy and supports in the co-ordination of additional support for pupils with SEN in our school.
Mr J Bailey - Family Support Worker
Mrs Bailey is the Family Support worker supporting Mrs Bird with Early Help intervention, SEND and Healthcare.
Mrs Bailey is based in ‘The Hub’ . She is a DDSL and is a qualified Thrive Practitioner.
Her main role is to provide specific emotional support to children and their families, in order to ensure that every pupil achieves their potential through the provision of targeted support, signposting to services and interventions.
Mrs J Childs - Attendance Officer
Mrs Childs is responsible for monitoring and keeping accurate records of pupil attendance. She liaises with parents and carers.
Mrs Childs also produces many of the rewards for pupils with high levels of attendance and supports Mrs Bird in putting support in place for families whose attendance is below the expected level.
