Growing, Caring and Making a Difference

At Upton St Leonards Primary School, we believe that personal development is an important part of every child’s education. We want our children to grow into confident, compassionate and responsible individuals who understand themselves, care about others and feel able to make a positive difference in the world.

Our Personal Development Dartboard shows how our children’s understanding grows from our local community, to our national community,

and then to the wider world.

🟢 Local – Gloucestershire Foodbank

Our partnership with Gloucestershire Foodbank helps children understand the importance of kindness, generosity and looking after people in our local community. Through fundraising and practical opportunities to help others, children learn that even small acts of kindness can make a difference.

🟡 National – Mind

Our link with Mind supports our focus on mental health and wellbeing. Children learn to understand and talk about their feelings, develop positive strategies for looking after themselves and recognise how they can support the wellbeing of others.

🔵 International – Tearfund

Our link with Tearfund helps children look beyond our local community and understand some of the challenges faced by people around the world. Through learning about poverty, inequality, compassion and caring for our planet, children develop a sense of global responsibility.

Growing from local to global

Through these experiences, alongside our curriculum and wider enrichment opportunities, we help children develop empathy, resilience, confidence, character and a sense of responsibility.

We want every child to leave Upton St Leonards with the confidence to care, contribute and make a difference — in our school, in our community and in the wider world.
